My horrific experience with Kampala Coach Bus and the hooliganism of the Rwandese Rugby Team
Having not blogged for ages but written several unpublished articles, i have been a shame to the bloggers with no single blog for the year 2010. However 2011 should be a better year for me hence i commence with some 2010 recounts that i thought i should share.
The month of August, 2010 was to be a memorable month, YES – my birthday and later on my wedding day. Kenya was the destination of my choice for this unforgettable honeymoon. However out of ignorance and excitement I chose this bus service for which I will forever be disappointed with – Kampala Coaches. Infact I am very disappointed with the Kampala Coaches Ltd for taking her customers for granted and not taking note of the complaints made to their offices both by phone or direct communication.
Deceit right from their Mombasa offices to the negligence at their Nairobi offices and irresponsibility at their Kampala offices racked my Mombasa to Kampala journey. At the Mombasa I was convinced that the bus travels directly to Kampala via Nairobi. However a few minutes after boarding we were told we had to make a stopover at Nairobi to wait for the 12pm bus coming from Dar es Salaam. On arrival, we were told that the bus actually arrives at 7am of which we were to endure the next 4hrs of standing in the cold at the offices that could offer us only 1 seat since their lounge rooms were under renovation. At 7am, one of the arrogant officers told us that our seats in the Dar bus were already booked and the only available bus was that of 7pm. After arguments and complaints, 2 of us were given seats in the 7am bus but 2 of us were unfortunate and had to wait for the 1pm bus going to Kigali via Kampala.
However at Nakuru 12 tipsy young men boarded and hardly 5 minutes’ drive from Nakuru I noticed that the would be reasonable men had actually packed alcohol in their water bottles. The chaps turned in to hooligans as they sang loudly and uttered very abusive words together with the ‘f’ word which was frequently mentioned. At Eldorate the hooligans whom I later learnt were the Rwandese Rugby Team stocked more alcohol as they did the unthinkable as the worst was yet to occur. The embarrassing players started betting on who of them plays the best and then a continued heated argument that lasted the entire journey; bottle throwing ensured and physical fighting was next. The helpless passengers together with the conductor who tried to control the situation were warned off the situation by their team manager who was equally speechless and had totally failed to control his boys. For the next 3 hours to the boarder it was insults after insults.
In both scenarios, am now convinced not to use or recommend Kampala Coaches. I also hope that whoever manages the Rwandese Rugby Team will take disciplinary action on their embarrassing players and teach them social etiquette.
God Bless.
