When CHOGM exposed a nation!
Its been hardly 2months when we last saw a high magnitude of this conference called CHOGM in our little known nation come to pass. Many having thought that such conferences that should be hugely impacting socially, economically and politically would never have come to Uganda got it absolutely wrong.
Whether the meeting was or did actually occur, many still thought that there was no better timing than this for a nation grossly colored by corruption and past bitterness to have total change. With more adverts seemingly focusing on the queen, its was so confusing to note that the main agenda was Elizabeth II, others thought 2 visitors namely The Queen and Mr. CHOGM were on a tour.
The anxiety that gripped many was just a fake that took hardly 1 or 2 days before Ugandans realized how less important they were. Many were thrown out of city, some lost business in the name of CHOGM, others saw schools built at the prime of independence collapse while others were simply disheartened by the level of corruption through CHOGM deals.
Today it seems no more to all the monies spent for a conference that consumed billions and billions. Shimoni a school of such enormous success is no more, potholes are back to the roads, wealth is back to the usual suspects, trees (including her Majesty's) have withered away and all that was done is a history.
The ordinary remained ordinary while the connected extraordinary had the last laugh.
