Has Africa been bound to failure and suffering? [Part 1]

Failed projects, failed economies, failed governments, failed systems and failed management styles have been synonymous with our continent – Africa. The social, political and economic environment has been left wanting, regime after regime. Time and time again our very own people have been the key to the successful self-destruction of what they did think belonged to them.

Once upon a time life even seemed to be heading for the better upon acquiring independence. Those who fought the ‘whites’ seemed to have earned pure gold and silver for her people. The ‘colonists’ were hence forth considered exploiters, gold diggers, war mongers, liars and all sorts of names that sounded sweet to the beholder’s lips.

In a relief of finally owning our resources, power belonging to us, 'manning' our economy and taking full responsibility of our very own everything, light shone in the continent that was deemed 'dark'. Light indeed shone and surreptitiously darkness followed!! In the shadows of every thing that seemed good and abundant such as gold, oil, beauty, exceptional environment, fresh waters, wildlife, strong men name it, Africa has continuously crippled, failed and suffered due to her own making.

Leaders have majestically walked in and out amidst the so called popularistic accreditation of the ‘people’. Beneath their leadership, people have danced to the tunes of suffering, swallowed dust, eaten leaves as food, shed blood and ever since the days of our great grandies we have seen economies crumble to nothing. Amidst all this the people themselves have denied their very own children a path to a better life……shouldnt that be called total bondage to suffering?

The problems of Africa will forever be there when we fail to do a SWOT analysis for the continents
